Baseball and Softball Progam Philosophy
The Legends Sports Complex is a high-quality Baseball & Softball Training Facility. We are not your ordinary "batting cage." Our success lies in the development and training of Baseball and Softball players of all ages. There is year-round instruction, camps and clinics available to promote the steady improved performance of every athlete who participates. We have quality instructors that provide one-on-one, group and team instruction for all skill levels.
Develop your skills in a professional learning environment either one lesson at a time or in a Legends package of lessons. Our professional coaches are dedicated to helping young player progress to the next level; our instructors have impressive credentials, experience and enthusiasm.
The Legends instructor philosophy includes:
- Teaching the proper fundamentals in a controlled, step-by step approach
- Increasing the player’s baseball/softball awareness
- Developing the player’s self esteem and a proper work ethic
All Legends instructors consistently follow this philosophy to help each player achieve success. Progressive teaching methods are supported by drill work and other training tools that can be practice within our facility or at home. The instructors allow each player to have his/her individual style while teaching the player how to develop fundamental skills and the proper attitude. We do not simply teach mechanics to create hitters that resemble one another, but rather help each player develop their physical and mental skills individually.

Jesse Barfield - Hitting Instructor
Former Major League Baseball right fielder who played for the Toronto Blue Jays (1981-89) and New York Yankees (1989-92). He batted and threw right-handed. Barfield was better known for his powerful throwing arm, universally hailed as the strongest outfield arm of his time, and as one of the best in major league history. It was not only strong, but accurate as well. He led American League outfielders in assists three times (1985-87), a remarkable total, since few opposing runners dared to even challenge his skilled throws. Selected by the Blue Jays in the ninth round of the 1977 amateur draft. In 1985, he helped Toronto to reach the playoffs for the first time. He also topped 20 home runs six times, became the first Blue Jay to hit a pinch grand slam (1982), and the first to hit 20 homers and steal 20 bases in the same season (1985). Barfield was traded to the Yankees for pitcher Al Leiter on April 30, 1989. He won his second Gold Glove in 1987. He hit 25 home runs for New York in 1990. He played 1993 in Japan with the Yomiuri Giants. He joined the Houston Astros for spring training in 1996. His son, Josh Barfield, is a second baseman with the Cleveland Indians and he has another son, Jeremy Barfield, selected by the New York Mets during the 2006 draft. Jeremy opted to attend San Jacinto Community College instead, and was drafted in 2008 by the Oakland Athletics. He is currently playing for the Vancouver Canadians.
